Fireplace fire loss

SERVPRO had been called out to this customers home on a very cold blistery day. 

The homeowner had not had their Chimney swept since moving into their home 15 years ago. The flue had been clogged due to a birds nest.  The husband decided he wanted to light the first fire of the season and then go start dinner at the same time he thought everything was good until he had smelled a burning smell coming into the kitchen but he had not even turned the oven on yet.  The homeowner then noticed the smoke that had built up that was trying to make its way out of the walls. Luckily the fire department was called in time to extinguish the fire in the fireplace wall and the next call was for SERVPRO to come out on that Saturday to mitigate the fire loss.
